- 03The weather in Flåm can be changing - from low hanging clouds over rain to sunshine and rainbows. But in Norway, we believe there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. 🌞 Therefore, our tours proceed as planned despite the rain. We will provide you with all the necessary equipment to keep you warm and as dry as possible (sprayskirts, rain jackets, and wetsuits) and go out on the water to explore the fjord in its diversity. If the weather conditions are dangerous on your tour date, we'll offer an alternative activity. You can read more about our terms and conditions here.(https://www.seakayaknorway.com/_files/ugd/db73a1_9e13ec3b7d2549069fc740175de68316.pdf)

- 05It's a convenient and short walk. Our boathouse is located less than 10 minutes away from the Flåm Cruise Port. Just cross the arch bridge, pass through the parking lot, and you'll easily spot our boathouse with a visible banner.
- 06In colder weather, we'll supply you with wetsuits and windproof jackets. It's advisable to wear a thin base layer underneath, avoiding cotton. Cotton tends to stay wet, making it uncomfortable and cold. Opt for quick-drying materials like polypropylene, thin wool, or fleece to ensure warmth and comfort. On sunny days, regular sportswear is suitable, but it's better to avoid cotton (again). Don't forget your hat and sunglasses. 😎 Regarding shoes, you can wear your own, as our guides will assist in getting you into the water and pulling you back after the tour, so no need to worry about wet feet.
- 07Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water, snacks and a big smile. Spare set of clothes, just in case.
- 08Day tours: We offer open storage boxes for our guests to store their bags and clothes. Unfortunately, we do not have lockers available. For larger items, we recommend using the luggage storage service at the nearby train station. Multiday tours: On overnight tours, you will likely need to repack all your items into smaller dry bags. Empty backpacks and excess luggage can be stored in a designated area during your expedition. If you opt not to use the shuttle back to Flåm after the expedition, please inform the guide so that they can deliver your bags to the final location of the tour.
- 09Absolutely! You are welcome to bring your camera along. We provide dry bags or camera boxes for you to safely store your camera during the tour.
- 10We use double kayaks for our guided tours, but there is no problem joining as a single person; many people do so. We will either pair you up with someone else from the group or have you share a double kayak with one of the guides.
- 11Height and weight limits: • Maximum weight: 120 kg | Maximum height: 195 cm • Children must be at least 5 years old • If unsure, feel free to visit our base before the tour to test the gear
- 12Absolutely! Our guided kayak tours are suitable for beginners with no kayaking experience. Our experienced guides will provide basic instruction and ensure you feel comfortable and safe on the water. Join us for an unforgettable kayaking adventure, regardless of your skill level!
- 13You will likely get a little wet, but not soaked, unless you decide to jump in the water for a swim. Bringing a towel would be a good idea. We provide wetsuits, paddle jackets, and life vests, ensuring you stay warm, dry, and safe. However, we recommend having a set of dry clothes to change into after the tour, just in case. 😎
- 14We unfortunately don't accept dogs (including service dogs) on any of our tours for safety reasons. The design of our kayaks prevents access between seats in case of emergencies, and having a dog on your lap would interfere with paddling. However, you’re welcome to enjoy the fjord with your four-legged companion on a self-guided rental, provided you have all the necessary safety gear for the pet.
- 15There are public parking lots available for small cars, marked on this map (https://kommunekart.com/?urlid=f9b487dd-157e-4fe0-96cb-ca3d612a8c95)(scroll down to locate Flåm at the end of the fjord). The daily rate is 200 NOK, or 40 NOK per hour. You can find more about fees and exceptions here (https://www.aurland.kommune.no/parkering-i-aurland-kommune.565070.nn.html#p66655071)(available in Norwegian only). Camper vans are welcome at Flåm Camping just along the main road. We recommend reserving a spot in advance.
- 16Absolutely! Our 2-hour and 3-hour paddling tours are beginner-friendly and suitable for ages 5 and up. For longer trips like paddling to Undredal or overnight tours, we recommend children be at least 7 years old. Our biking tours are open to anyone at least 150 cm tall to ensure a comfortable experience.
- 17We knew you’d ask! That’s why we've put together a dedicated article (https://www.seakayaknorway.com/post/where-to-stay-in-flaam)on the top accommodation choices in the area. Check it out to discover the perfect place for your stay. 🏡⛺
